How did the holocaust impact annes writing


  1. anne had never had a diary before her 13th birthday.
  2. at first she thought writing a diary was pointless because she felt noone would want to read about a 13 year old girl
  3. she thought of her diary as a friend and named it kitty because it made writing easier for her
  4. she started writing while hiding from the nazi's
  5. they were discovered and arrested
  6. anne and her family were arrested and taken on a train from amsterdam to the westbrook transit camp
  7. her mother dies in auschwitz as she and margot leave the concentration camp
  8. her sister margot dies in bergenbelsen
  9. soon after anne also dies
  10. from the begining anne, her mother, and her sister margot were seperated from their father.
  11. during the period of time where anne was hiding her writing became important to her because she could write down her innermost thoughts
  12. she felt that if she couldnt have written down her thoughts she would have suffocated
  13. most of the time she would just write letters to kitty talking about how she felt because she felt she only had kitty to vent to
  14. while hiding she discovered that she also liked writing stories and writing stories made her feel happier as she was also worried about being find.
  15. she also had a seperate notebook to write down quotes that impacted her so she wouldnt ever forget them
  16. somtimes to calm the mood of the others in hiding she would read her stories to the other people in hiding

  1. the holocaust made anne a better person
  2. it made her appriciate what she had before the holocaust
  3. it made her realize what a great family she had
  4. she was also lucky that throughout the time she was in the holocaust, she had family with her
  5. some people had to go through everything on their own with no familyanne in trusted her innermost feelings and thoughts in her diary.
  6. she used kitty (her diary) to keep her sanity.
  7. for 2 years anne spent her time hiding in the secret annex.
  8. the annex was located in her fathers workpalce behind a bookcase
  9. anne and her family were accompanied by another jewish family and one other person in the annex
  10. annes sister margot was always quiet and kept to herself most of the time
  11. annes mother edith always felt that anne was against everything she did
  12. edith was very depressed during the hiding period
  13. at heart anne tried to be a normal girl. in her room, she had pictures of celebrities on her wall.
  14. every day anne was afraid she and her family would be discovered.
  15. one thing that gave anne alot of hope was the chestnut tree that she could see out her window.
  16. that tree was the only thing anne could see of the outside world while hiding in the annex
  17. the tree gave anne alot of hope.
